MOUNTAIN LION HUNTS
Conquer the Wilderness, Pursue the Apex Predator
The Ultimate Mountain Lion Pursuit in Idaho’s Wild Backcountry
Between elk/deer season and bear season, lion hunting is a great sport to get into, and probably the most fun! We hunt from November until the end of February with Bitterroot Outfitters.
At Bitterroot Outfitters, our Mountain Lion hunts offer a thrilling and intense experience deep in Idaho's untamed wilderness. With expert guidance and a deep commitment to integrity, we take pride in providing an exceptional and ethically grounded hunting adventure. Whether you're an experienced hunter or seeking your first mountain lion, we ensure an unforgettable journey as you pursue one of North America's most elusive predators.
We will try to schedule your hunt for the week of your choice, but we ask that you be somewhat flexible. The best weather to hunt in is a light snowfall, or after a snow storm has hit. Mountain lions are a hard animal to spot; therefore, they require hounds to hunt them. As long as there is snow on the ground, our dogs can run a lion. Our area allows you to hunt up to two lions per hunter; Idaho’s lion numbers have been on the rise for the last few years, giving hunters an excellent opportunity to harvest a mature Tom. We usually use side-by-sides with tracks. At times, we have even gone in on horseback–whatever it takes to get you into the lion's territory. Additionally, we all have Garmin Inreaches for communication and dog tracking equipment. Your stay will be in nice heated wall tents with floors. Our backcountry base camp is very comfortable with wood heat, table, chairs, beds, running water, hot tub and wifi. All meals are provided.
Lion tags are guaranteed. Your guides are responsible for packing out game that you harvest, especially during warm weather. Wilderness hunts are extremely physical, and we will hunt you to the best of your ability.
